Come Dine With Me: Green

Aperitif of mint and apple cocktails with green sugar rims

Last Saturday night saw Round 3 of my friends and I’s colour-themed Come Dine With Me.  It was the night of the Greens, and after Come Dine With Me Orange last month and my partner and I’s Come Dine With Me Yellow the month before that, the Green Team (Jenny and Frances) had their work cut out for them.

As you can see from the pics, they fulfilled their brief very well and provided us with a lovely evening of food.  Good work!  Maybe too good!

Asparagus with scallops and pancetta, smothered in a Hollandaise sauce

Raisin glace (frozen grapes as a sorbet substitute, genuinely really refreshing)

Loin of Lamb in Crisp Potato Crust with Pea & Mint Purée andTarragon Jus accompanied by Wilted Spinach and Champ

Warm Chocolate Brownies with Homemade Pistachio Ice-cream

Green vodka jelly shots.  Needless to say, the night got well…blurry after these little firecrackers.

All in all, a great night.  Bring on Come Dine With Me Red coming up next!

  1. I love it! I’m definitely going to have to start something like this with my friends!

    • Definitely do it, it’s so much fun! And we do it in teams of two to share the cost and the stress of it all, which makes it even more fun. Good way to catch up with friends that you might not get to see as much as you’d like. Go for it!

  2. love the idea of grapes as a sorbet, am going to try the scallop dish this weekend, scrummy

    • Yeah, they were literally just frozen grapes, and they totally worked. Not the best for sensitive teeth perhaps, but a really easy little palate-cleanser for a posh nosh meal :)

  3. Just looked back at all your CDWM dinners and am positively drooling! Is there a prize in the end? I imagine all of the dinners will get very high marks if they taste half as good as they look!

    • This is actually the third round of doing this with this group of friends – we started in 2007 I think! We always meant to go out for a meal at the end and the winners wouldn’t have to pay but we’ve actually never gotten round to it. So, the prize has been the pride of winning! Maybe we’ll get it together this year and go out for a Winners’ Meal :)

  4. What a delish feast!

    • It sure was – shame they were my competition, our yellow meal may have fallen short of the mark compared to the other two nights so far :)

  5. Wow! You all are so talented, am jealous of your skills :) I love the frozen grapes idea and the green sugar rims on the glasses…amazing!

  6. yum yum yum – green with envy!

    sorry had to be done
