Clonakilty by Candlelight

Tonight marks Round Two of Clonakilty by Candlelight, Ireland’s first flash restaurant, which will be happening tonight, tomorrow and Saturday night in a secret location in Dublin.

I was lucky enough to go along last Friday, and if you read on, you’ll see what wondrous treats awaited us at this truly special dinner party.

But if you’re due to go over the weekend, don’t spoil the surprise for yourself!

The Reception Room where we enjoyed canapes of black pudding and apple puree and/or bacon and chocolate bites, washed down with a cold glass or two of prosecco.

Clonakilty by Candlelight has been surrounded by an air of mystery since it was announced in early February.  Guests who were lucky enough to get a place at the table via Facebook were told only the time and place, and were texted/emailed the directions to the secret location on the day of the event.  Exciting!

I don’t want to give too much away to the folks who may be going over the next three nights, but you can see below that we had the most delicious of nights.  There was prosecco, fireplaces, flowers, a blind-tasting test, vintage dolls in floor-to-wall cabinets, teal silk curtains, a grand piano, old friends, new friends, candlelight and, of course, Clonakilty black pudding.

Blind-tasting Party Games…

Clonakilty Bacon and Rosemary Infused Jameson Special Reserve 12 Year Old Whiskey (shouldn’t have worked but TOTALLY did. I’m adding a sprig of rosemary to my whiskeys from now on.)
